Dr. Khosravi specializes in traditional open surgery and minimally invasive surgical procedures, commonly referred to as laparoscopic surgery or laparoscopy. We work with each patient to determine the best procedure on a case-by-case basis. A small subset of our patients are not candidates for minimally invasive surgery; open surgery may be required for emergency procedures, complex anatomy or reconstructions. We strive to determine the safest, least invasive procedure with the best recovery possible.
During laparoscopy, smaller incisions are made in such a way that small instruments can be used by a surgeon to perform precise and accurate surgery. Through specialized training and experience, surgeons who perform minimally invasive procedures are able to offer alternatives to traditional, open surgery that patients may find particularly beneficial.
Status as an accredited facility means Dr. Abtin Khosravi has met nationally and internationally recognized standards. Not all health care providers seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous inspection process are granted accreditation. Health care facilities and surgeons seeking accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. The inspection involves all staff working in the accredited program. Inspectors educate staff on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
SRC accredits the top medical professionals and facilities in the world who are dedicated to sustaining a culture of excellence by committing to safety, high-quality surgical care and optimal patient outcomes. This accreditation distinguishes Dr. Abtin Khosravi from many other surgeons for delivering the highest quality of care to patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.
There are a wide range of conditions affecting abdominal organs and tissues that general surgeons treat using robotic surgery. Among these are: colon and rectal cancer, morbid obesity, stomach cancer, pancreatic disease and achalasia (swallowing disorder). Collectively, these conditions impact millions of people around the world.
Minimally invasive robotic surgery enables surgeons to operate through a few tiny incisions instead of a long incision used for traditional open surgery. Using the state-of-the-art da Vinci Surgery System provides your doctor with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control, while offering patients many potential benefits as compared to traditional surgery, such as:
Dr. Khosravi performs Single Incision Robotic Gallbladder Surgery. He performs single incision robotic cholecystectomy at St. Joseph’s Hospital Orange, California.
Single Incision Robotic Surgery provides enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control, while offering patients many potential benefits as compared to traditional surgery.
During the procedure, Dr. Khosravi sits at a console viewing 3-D, high-definition video and images while using controls below the display to move robotic arms with attached surgical instruments.
Unlike traditional robotic surgeries, Single Incision Robotic Cholecystectomy allows for a single incision at the belly button where the diseased gallbladder is removed laparoscopically.
Benefits of the single-incision surgery can include minimal scarring, less pain, less bleeding, faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay, enhancing quality and safety and improving patient satisfaction.
